Classic Loveseat

Classic Loveseat: Wagon Seat Reproduction

This classic loveseat is an elegant addition to the living room or mudroom. It is a compact form with elegant lines. All the wood and metal work were shaped by hand. This loveseat is painted in red milk paint followed by black milk paint then topcoated with a hand-rubbed oil finish. The black milk paint can be abraded to the customer’s satisfaction to reveal the red beneath on typical wear spots. It is well-suited to upholstery on the seat and back.

The classic loveseat is based on an original wagon seat that was used by a florist in York, Maine, in the 18th century. Many wagon seats and carriages were made in New England. In fact, Amesbury, Massachusetts was the Carriage Capitol of the country. To learn more about the history of carriage-making in New England visit The Amesbury Carriage Museum.
